Penny | Souvenir penny from Lake Michigan Park, ca 1920s. Lake Michigan Park began as a city beach in the 1890s. By the turn of the Century, it was advertised as the “Coney Island of the West”and boasted a roller coaster, boardwalk and large pavilion. It was renamed Pere Marquette Park in 1927. |
