The Secrets of Bees Speaker Series: What’s the Buzz?: Honey Bee Declines and How to Help

May 22, 2018 @ 6:00 pm

Honeybee colonies are in decline worldwide. What is happening to our bees? And what is being done about it? Better yet, what can you do to make a difference? This talk will feature a quick summary of the importance of managed honey bee colonies and dig into the complex and interrelated root causes of their decline. I hope to give you hope and purpose by highlighting some of the ways we can all help the honey bees.

Speaker Anne Marie Fauvel is a Faculty Specialist at the University of Maryland working for The Bee Informed Partnership, coordinating Technical Transfer Teams gathering data, supporting commercial beekeepers and facilitating honey bee research projects throughout the US. Anne Marie is also the apiarist for the Grand Valley State University’s research apiary where she maintains up to 20 hives each year.

3rd of 3 speaker series around bees.
